When my friend, a dedicated children’s occupational therapist, approached me to design a logo for her business, Kids First Occupational Therapy, I knew it had to be something special. Based in Wilmington, Delaware, her practice is all about helping children thrive through creativity, care, and expertise. The challenge was to create a logo that reflected her mission while connecting with both children and parents.
The Vision
From the beginning, we knew the logo had to be:
- Playful: To resonate with children and reflect a nurturing environment.
- Professional: To convey trustworthiness and expertise to parents and caregivers.
- Versatile: Adaptable for various uses, including website headers, social media profiles, business cards, and signage.
The Process
We started with a brainstorming session to explore colors, imagery, and themes that symbolize growth, learning, and play. Key concepts included:
- Bright, cheerful colors: To evoke positivity and warmth.
- Child-friendly imagery: Hands, puzzle pieces, or building blocks to represent interaction and development.
- Clean and modern typography: For readability and a professional touch.
The Design
After sketching several ideas, we landed on a design that incorporated:
- A colorful handprint motif to symbolize creativity and hands-on growth.
- A soft, rounded font that feels approachable but polished.
- A tagline placement option to emphasize the mission of putting “Kids First.”
The Outcome
The final logo embodies the heart of Kids First Occupational Therapy. It’s warm, engaging, and reflects the joyful work happening within her practice. Seeing her excitement when we unveiled the design was the ultimate reward.
